Shimla is located in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla is probably one of India’s most famous hill stations. The amazing hill station Shimla, in the residence of grand Himalayas, is not only one of the most wonderful hill station but also one of the most loved places across the world. Shimla is also known as a “Queen of Hills”.

The town of Shimla lies at an level of around 2200m and the whole Shimla district has a population of over 1,000,000. Shimla, being the conventional academic hub since the British days, has an average literacy rate of 84%, higher than the national average of 59.5%.

The Ridge: Its designed at the top of the city at 2230m, The Ridge is the center of Shimla’s cultural and social life. This is one outstanding place to view the surrounding hills.

Jaku Hills: This is the biggest peak of Shimla and provides spectacular view of the city and the hills. ‘Hanuman Temple of Jakhu’ is very popular.

Glen: This is one of the most wonderful picnic spots of Shimla with flowing streams through heavy natrual enviroment. From 1 mile from Glen we can see the lovely Cecil Hotel and Kennedy House. It is sure one of the very popular places around Shimla.

Annandale: Known as the play area of Shimla, Annandale is situated at an altitude of 1864 m, 2-km below the Ridge. It is being designed as the primary play area of the capital  for cricket, a picnic and princely activity of polo.

Summer Hill: Situated at an altitude of 1283 meter from the sea level and five kms from the Mall Road of Shimla. It is protected with snow capped mountains it is located between green hilly wood trees and deodar plants. The mountain terrains, greenery of nature with a variety of plants makes it a wonderful tourist place in Shimla.

Prospect hill: About 5 miles from the city, this is another great picnic and outing place. It is known as a Kamana Devi Temple. You can see the Shimla hills, Taradevi’s temple, Lower sohasu, Kamanadevi’s temple from here.

Taradevi Temple: Tara Devi in Shimla is another beautiful place in Shimla. There is a famous temple of Tara Mata on the top of the hill.

Kufri: Kufri is one of the well known location of Shimla. It is 3 miles from Wild Flower and 16 miles from Shimla. Basically is looks like a painting. Badrinath, Kedarnath, Pir Panjal, and Shivalik range is visible from Kufri. There is also the Indira tourist area, Himalayan Nature Park and a small zoo here. You can ride a Yak or a horse here.

Mashobra: This is a famous picnic spot in Shimla which provides perfect guides among natrual enviroment of oak and pine. The area connecting to Mashobra is poplour for apples orchards.

Naldehra: A beautiful place and one should try to visit it. It is on NH 22, about 23 kilometers from Shimla via Dhali. There is an ancient temple of Mahung Nag.

TattaPani: Tattapani is a well known position in the area of Shimla. This place is known for its hot water rises.. The Hot Springs of Tattapani with Sulphur content have curative power for various skin diseases. It can be found on the Shimla-Mandi Highway in Mandi section. There is a Shiva Cave situated at Saraur, 3 kms from the mainland.
